Ametek – intellipower is seeking an applications engineer for our uninterrupted power supply (ups) focused on military and industrial applicationThis position requires a seasoned, hardworking, smart and overachieving applications/sales engineer with proven experience and a passion for providing technology solutions to the intellipower customer baseThis position is responsible for addressing the technical needs of the customer, both the internal and external sales channel and marketing group to ensure the acquisition and closing of businessMeasures of success include new customer inquiry conversion rates, renewal rates, up-selling, cross-selling, customer satisfaction and contribution to overall sales team and business successIt acts as the technical bridge between the customer service, sales & marketing, engineering/r&d, program/project management, and manufacturing functionsHe or she will be engaged with the engineering organization during product development to learn and understand the ups system and will also provide relevant feedback on customer/industry use and direction to influence new product designThe application engineer will own product-related documentationThey must be able to succinctly comprehend technical problems and communicate solutions to all stakeholdersPrevious experience in the defense - aerospace industry is a plusThis person is a passionate, creative, goal-oriented engineer who is comfortable working independently and with internal/external teamsThis position requires extensive hands-on work and a do-whatever-it-takes attitude to get the job donePosition requires passion for solving customer concerns and ensure customer satisfaction by taking issues to their logical closureSome amount of travel is required.
Responsibilities:
Primary engineering interface to customers and provide product application & technical support
Support the sales channel with a feasibility analysis of the potential opportunity implementing solution selling into the prospective account base
Partner with sales executives to plan, prepare and execute on-going and future technical needs
Match customer requirements to a proposed intellipower product using standard, modified standard and custom solutions
Develop presentations and demos that clearly communicate the value proposition and specific differentiators of intellipower at trade shows and customer sites
Support of all technical aspects of rfp / rfi responses
Assist in the troubleshooting of customer complaints by solving problems through coordinating efforts between several company departments.
As needed, travel to customer sites to assist them in evaluating product performance and application
Perform tests on ups, battery & communication protocol integration scenarios
Create and conduct training presentations to the sales channel in technical product applications, features and competitive characteristicsDevelop product training for customers and sales representatives
Develop knowledge base and documents customer’s products and applications for the targeted market segments
Create/support the customer’s technical documents including but not limited to product specification document, layout drawings, user manuals and maintenance/service procedures
Develop, utilize “self help” tools in conjunction with marketing to assist customers in selecting and applying the product into their specific applications (technical & application notes, white papers)
Monitor application related trends and requirements providing guidance to our internal and external sales channels and customersHelp feed those trends into our roadmap process
Coordinate activities with leveraging intellipower resource teams to respond to customer inquiries and issuesManage and support customer escalations for post sales troubleshooting
Experience & skills:
Degree in electrical engineering with work experience in the power conversion industry.
5-7 years of technical application, sales or customer support experience in the rugged power solution industry preferred.
Demonstrated ability to provide a high-level customer touch while using solid judgment advancing an issue to closure.
Strong understanding of, and experience in applying, electrical principles and design considerations, especially for power applications.
Proven track record selling complex enterprise solutions
Proven ability to forge strong, long-lasting relationships with the sales channel, other departments and the customer base
Ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy to understand manner
Experience in ups design, application, battery application and evaluation & sales support is a plus.
Understanding of communication protocols related to ups is a plus.
Experience in military related power application is a big plus.
Strong communication (written and verbal) and positive, optimistic, attitude; enjoys communicating.
Highly committed to understand the customer perspective and passionate about customer satisfaction.
Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in both product and marketing software development and web technologies.
Industry experience in the following areas is a plus: power electronics design, analog electronics design, power converters, inverters, emi, emc, mil stds, product safety standards and battery chemistries and charging characteristics.
Able to conceive new product development based upon existing products using intellipower’s modular/building block system design approach.
Experience with program/project management, lean six sigma, agile project management, and it software & cybersecurity is a big plus.
Proficient in microsoft office applications, i.e., word, excel, outlook, visio and powerpoint.

This position may alternate between a sedentary as well as mobile role at times in order to follow up with various departments in the company.
This position would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand.
Intermittent travel may be required by road and/or air to various clients/vendors and/or subcontractors.
Occasionally, may include heavy lifting and moving of equipment 30+ pounds; overhead lifting, bending, prolong standing, twisting.
