Full job description
Anduril is a defense technology company, bringing silicon valley talent and funding to the defense sectorOur technology helps our customers solve their toughest challenges by enabling them to make better, more informed decisions in life-and-death situationsWe’ve assembled a diverse team of experts in artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor fusion, optics, and data analysis that are creating software and hardware solutions to radically evolve the capabilities of the united states and our alliesIf you are passionate about solving problems that have a real impact, come join anduril and build the future of defense.
Anduril’s autonomy team is developing autonomous behaviors and strategies for missions involving aerial and ground-based platformsOur systems often operate in distributed teams, jointly solving tasks and responding to new sensor data while allocating assets and resources in strategic waysWe deploy our software to third-party aircraft, integrating with their flight and payload systems to push autonomy to the edge, enabling responsive behaviors and on-demand vehicle tasking.
As a senior autonomy engineer, you will work with customers to define autonomous behaviors and scope vehicle integrationsYou will engage with a core group of software engineers dedicated to the program, and interface with other teams to ensure timely resourcing for cross-functional work and to align goals and technical objectivesYou will need to understand the program’s autonomy architecture and ensure that details in each component of the system will successfully integrateThe right person for this role has a strong background in software/autonomy systems development, is able to actively engage with engineers to unblock efforts and help close out risks, and has a high degree of confidence and accountability for program deliverablesIf you are someone who has a passion for autonomous systems, excels when faced with key deadlines, and has the drive to rapidly deploy systems to customers, then this role is for you.
What you`ll do
Interact with business development and customers to define and scope engineering requirements.
Develop engineering roadmap with tangible milestones for the purpose of driving schedule and mitigating risk, balancing core mission autonomy development with vehicle integration effort.
Maintain an intimate understanding of the autonomous systems in order to identify and communicate blind spots and timeline risks.
Establish engineering completion criteria and evaluation metrics for system performance, building tools for unit and integration tests and end to end simulation validation.
Liaison with the test team to establish testing needs and prioritiesProvide system documentation and example ui workflows and describe the functional requirements of the system under test.
Understand anduril’s cross-functional structure, and coordinate with other teams.
Decompose workload into focused sprints and task engineering resources, with a focus on shipping an iteratively improving mvp and reducing risk.
Work closely with engineers to ensure specific tasks/sprints are on track day-to-day, with a focus on unblocking key efforts by debugging issues with features and end-to-end integration.
Architect and implement key components and algorithms to provide critical systems improvements and enable new autonomous behaviors.
Required qualifications
Experience and demonstrated interest in ai/robotics in one or more of the following areas: motion planning, sensor fusion, probabilistic decision making, finite state machines, dynamics and controls, computer vision, and/or machine learning.
Strong background in software development using c/c++ and/or go, with an emphasis on real-world systems integration problems and complex projects, demonstrated in the context of product development or program deliverables.
Experience effectively communicating technical information to audiences and stakeholders of varied backgrounds (bd, engineers, program managers, customers, etc).
Aptitude in mathematical problem-solving in areas including but not limited to: graph search, convex optimization, optimal allocation, kalman filters, and geometric methods.
Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems.
Passion for defending the united states and her allies.
Must be able to obtain and hold a u.sTs/sci security clearance
Anduril is an equal-opportunity employer, and we encourage candidates from all backgrounds to applyIf you are someone passionate to work on problems that matter, we’d love to hear from you!
