Full job description
Commercial vehicle inspector
Part-time / contractor
Looking for a qualified vehicle inspector to conduct vehicle inspections of new and used heavy duty equipment, cars, trucks, vans, suvs, construction equipment, and recreation equipment within a designated geographical areaThe inspector would be responsible for performing quality, thorough inspections in the field for off-lease, company, and fleet return vehiclesThis is for a second income for someone that has a primary income with flexibility in their schedule that can perform inspections m-f from 8a-4p, as this would make a great second incomeThis is a 1099 part time position.
Primary skills:
1Perform timely and efficient vehicle inspections at auction locations, dealerships, and customer site locationsInspectors would be responsible for total quality and thoroughness of their inspection.
2Possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to listen and respond effectively to customer concernsFoster good relationships with lessees, dealer principals, and auction personnel.
3Thoroughly document and record specific details regarding vehicle’s condition including: damage, scratches, dents, nicks, cleanliness, engine condition/mechanics, interior condition etc.
4Ability to identify engine damage on diesel/gas engines, physical damage, previous repair, frame damage, hail damage or flood damage and explain the results of the inspection within the report.
5Possess a computer/smart phone (with internet access), digital camera, and tire depth gaugeResponsible for inputting and uploading inspection results into management system upon completion of jobsTimeliness is critical as vehicle sales are pending!
6Must have good communication skills and be able to take directionMust be meticulous and “attention to detail” focusedAccuracy is critical!
Experience:
Mechanical knowledge of diesel engine commercial vehicles is a plusPrevious inspections experience in any other areas (home, auto, structural, mechanical/electrical) is also a plusGeneral knowledge of cars/trucks/commercial equipment is preferred and recommended.
