Job description we are looking for a seasoned devops engineer to work on a new and exciting product at alertus that will help us fulfill our mission—empowering organizations with mass notification solutions to protect lives, secure assets, and maintain business continuityThe devops engineer will work directly with our newest offering and support the development team with the tools necessary to ensure our new product is well built, secure, and has all the required protocols to ensure smooth operation.
The ideal candidate will use their development experience to streamline our software development life cycle, from requirements to monitoring in productionThey will incorporate open source tools, automation, and cloud resources to create efficient workflows to enable the team`s developers to focus on what they do best: innovate, implement continuous integration and delivery to limit manual testing and troubleshooting.
The candidate is an experienced, detail-oriented person used to working on a team and contributing to the project`s ongoing success.
A day in the life:
Build and maintain tools and solutions associated with deployment and our devops platform, including but not limited to version control, configuration management, deployment automation, monitoring and analytics
Troubleshoot any issues that arise during product build and testing
Investigate root causes for aws cloud problems, perform impact analysis for proposed changes.
Become an expert in the alertus solution and all of our product offerings
Understand, overcome, and innovate new methods to proactively combat common roadblocks
Work with source control such as git and svn.
Support monitoring tools for infrastructure stability and cost analysis.
Work with open-source technologies as needed.
Work with build management tools such as jenkins
Use cloud formation to build out full stacks along with security groups
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, software engineering, or a relevant field.
More than two years of experience in a devops engineer role (or similar role).
Strong experience with linux-based infrastructures and linux/unix administration
Knowledge of scripting languages such as python and bash.
Exposure to monitoring tools.
Experience with databases such as mysql and mongodb
Experience with open-source technologies and tools.
Solid grasp of aws cloud services such as ec2 and s3, cloudformation, amis, route53, vpc, lambda, s3, iam, aws cli, ebs, elb, sqs, cloud watch, cloudtrail, ecs, cloudformation
Experience with docker and kubernetes on platforms such as ecs and eks.
Experience in working with one of the following: puppet, terraform, ansible, or chef for infrastructure automation and configuration.
Experience with ci/cd tools such as jenkins, bitbucket, artifactory
Strong communication skills and ability to explain protocol and processes with team and management.
Current with industry trends, it ops, and industry best practices, and can identify the ones we should implement.
Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
