Job summary
The model center of excellence drives model optimization & ensures integrity for 150+ models and tools across all segments of the businessThe model coe manages this through multiple teams of cross functional experts being engaged in all elements of the model lifecycle including development, testing, documentation, implementation, performance testing, and enhancementThey work closely with the model risk management group during model validations, annual reviews, and maintenance & monitoring assessmentsThey are actively engaged with risk and operations leaders to identify opportunities provide solutions through model development and mitigate risk through model optimization.
The specialist in model governance is a peer mentor for other analysts and contributes in the efforts to support multiple cross functional teams with the development, maintenance, and governance of statistically sound robust modelsThey partner in creating, standardizing, and implementing governance documentation and processes for models to ensure that appropriate processes are in place to provide the needed functionality while maintaining the integrity of the business strategyThey utilize their experience to manage and prioritize multiple projects with a high level of independence, leveraging cross functional resources as needed.
Job description
Model development – designing and developing new models as well as enhancing existing modelsThis is done through a cyclical communication with model users, developers, and validators as well as consumers of the model output, which the specialist will be responsible for managing and prioritizingPartner with internal customers to implement their stated strategies into the governed models with the required functionality and protections in place to ensure regulatory integrity.
Model documentation - research, document, and communicate the proper data sources for the models being usedDiscuss alternatives and document the reason for chosen sources and methodologiesPerform reviews & document access and version controls of models as well as ensuring required documentation exists and is up to dateConduct in depth reviews and validations of changes to models to verify data sources and strategies are properly reflected in the model functionality and calculationsExecuting periodic audits and updates of access, data sources, and assumptions in the models being governed.
Project management - train, evaluate and track progress of other analysts on the teamMonitor progress towards development and project goalsInitiate and lead communication efforts with leaders and cross functional teams on project & task statusPartners with internal customers to document model theory, policies, procedures, and other work flows as necessaryProvide training for model users and owners on the utility of the developed models and reporting functions.
Audit – advises on establishment of audit schedules and assist in execution of the audit cadence for model use, validation, and access as part of the ongoing maintenance & monitoring plans.

Minimum qualifications :
Bachelor degree or equivalent education / years of experience
Area of study: finance, economics, business, statistics
Four or more years of experience advanced financial modeling, querying and validating data sets, financial metrics and statements
2+ years in model related field such as financial, statistical, operational or risk modeling functions
2+ years advanced financial modeling, querying and validating data sets, financial metrics and statements, advanced excel models
Preferred experience:
Bachelor`s degree in finance, economics, business, statistics
Seven or more years directly related work experience in advanced financial modeling, querying and validating data sets, and an understanding of financial metrics and statements, banking industry experience
