Position summary:
Avalara is hiring an experienced senior network engineer to manage and maintain our company`s enterprise networkAs a senior network engineer, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring engineering staff and handling advanced support issuesUltimately, you will be responsible for the functional management of our network, its resilience, and the resolution of network issues.
To ensure success as a senior network engineer, you should have extensive experience working with global enterprise networks, high-level managerial skills, and advanced project management skillsAt avalara, a senior network engineer ensures the networking team performs as a cohesive unit, maintaining the stability and performance of the network.
Senior network engineer responsibilities:
Collaborating with network architects to design and implement functional company networks
Installing, configuring, and maintaining lan/wan network hardware, firewalls, wireless aps, load balancers, software appliances, cloud networking components (aws, azure, gcp, vmware cloud)
Managing vmware networking with hci technologies, vsan, and san storage
Creating and implementing network security measures, vulnerability management and remediation
Continuous improvement of network performance, availability, and maintenance
Addressing escalated network support issues, perform root cause analysis and problem management, available for 24x7 on-call if required
Perform network discovery, configuration analysis and provide comprehensive documentation for m&a activities
Management of physical and virtual circuits, isps, sdwan technology
Automate network device build and config management via ansible or other tools
Training and mentoring junior network engineers and staff
Reporting to the director of global infrastructure
Senior network engineer requirements:
Bachelor`s degree in computer science, information technology or related field
8+ years work experience as a networking engineer in a global enterprise environment
Expert level proficiency across enterprise wired and wireless technology including route/switch, firewalls, wan routing, sdwan, vpn, cloud networking and connectivity
Expert level proficiency with 802.1x and modern security protocols and technologies
Proficiency with coding languages including python and perl
3+ years using automation tools to manage network device build and configuration
Advanced aws and palo alto networking knowledge and experience
Excellent leadership and mentoring skills
High level problem-solving and communication skills
Industry standard cisco ccnp, aws, palo alto, security certifications highly desired
