This role will report directly to the vp of it transformation and will collaborate with bae leadership and teams in our business sectors to provide enterprise it solution and cloud architecture support across a variety of project types and technologies.
The solution architect (sa) will serve as the technical subject matter expert (sme) and the engineering design authority (da) in support of projects for enterprise shared services (ess)-itThis position will drive solution development for cloud enablement and infrastructure (compute, storage and network) and application modernization projectsWorking closely with business sectors and ess-it teams, the sa will stay abreast of emerging and evolving technology and cloud capabilities, taking into account how those capabilities would enable larger digital strategy goalsThis position will play a key role in identifying capabilities gaps across the sectors and recommend actions to drive efficiency and modernization into the overall enterprise.
This position will also assist in development of technology road maps for future capabilities, fully document the associated solutions including conops, system architecture, models and prototypes, as well as business and user requirementsThe role is responsible for ensuring the quality of the solutions delivered meets all customer expectations and is sufficiently mature to be successfully transitioned into operation.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Leads, architects, and develops cloud, infrastructure and application solutions to include cloud enablement, hybrid cloud design and implementation, infrastructure modernization and service delivery enhancements that increase service quality and lower support costs.
Develop proof-of-concept models and pre-production prototypes, and conduct demonstrations
Collaborate across bae systems to leverage discriminators and leverage existing solutions where applicable
Develop lifecycle cost models to support architecture decision trades
Develop technical approach and project engineering plans, including tasks, process and critical resources, to turn the solution into a successful implementation
Collaborating with sectors and ess-it, develop technology and capability road maps and tailorable reference architecture for different service models including system integration, sustainment, and operational support
Communicate solutions with customers and management, including presentations and white papers.
Lead the development of solution designs and architectures.
Required education, experience, & skills
Bachelor degree in appropriate discipline (e.gEngineering, computer sciences) and a minimum of 6 years of experience.
Experience in the development of novel or innovative new solutions
Experience with code and scripting languages such as python or java.
Experience with infrastructure as code using platforms like terraform, aws cloud formation or azure resource manager
Experience implementing secure cloud solutions utilizing native aws and azure toolsets.
Experience integrating hybrid cloud designs for application deployments.
Demonstrated ability to develop complex cloud and infrastructure architectures and design into implementable solutions.
Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively at varied levels of management to articulate the understanding of their mission needs and requirements, and to communicate the value and benefit of bae systems solutions
It specific domain knowledge, architectural design patterns; cybersecurity and information assurance; enterprise it infrastructure; and cloud native design principles
Experience collaborating across organizations, participating in industry forums and conferences, writing and presenting technical papers
Experience working in project methodologies that include agile and waterfall.
Preferred education, experience, & skills
Master’s degree (preferred in appropriate discipline)
Expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., dodaf, togaf, zachman)
Itil certification
Agile certifications
Cloud architect certification for aws and/or azure
