What does the job entail?
Leads strategic procurement activities for one or more categories of spend, with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions.
Works closely with key stakeholders in member organizations and in corporate functions to develop effective cost reduction strategies, develop rfps and implementation plans.
Reviews existing procedures and examines opportunities to streamline purchasing and sourcing needs.
Directs activities to limit costs, improve accuracy and customer service.
Responsibilities
Responsible for holding quarterly supplier reviews and ensuring progress to year-over-year supplier improvement goals.
Develop, implement, and monitor business unit satisfaction with key suppliers and the support/responsiveness of the purchasing activity for assigned products and services.
Remain current with market trends through relationships with vendors and market experts, identifying and communicating new technologies and solutions to compass bank’s key problems in the assigned spend areasMaintain knowledge and understanding of emerging technologies and products.
Develop, champion, and ensure implementation of ideas that will optimize the bank’s total cost of ownership year-over-year for assigned spend categories
Work with key stakeholders to ensure best practices are widely adopted by compass’ groups, segments and subsidiaries.
Education/experience
Master`s degree (ma, ms, mba, etc.) in business, accounting, finance, or a related field required with seven (7) years of procurement experienceWork experience may substitute for education requirement.

Preferred: certified professional purchasing manager (cppm)

Additional minimum and preferred qualifications
Develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans with the service owners.
Work with departments involved in the procurement approval flow to ensure they are managing pr approvals on a timely basis and helping to close issues/concerns as needed.
Ensure policies and procedures for procurement and contract management are adhered to.
Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers.
Assist in resolving issues with procurement/purchasing systems.
Participate in the development of specifications of the purchase request.
Create a positive working relationship with the service owners, understand their needs and asking the appropriate questions to provide the necessary procurement support.
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
At least 2-3 years of experience in procurement or related field
Familiarity with reading and analyzing legal documents or can learn this skill
Proficiency with google suite (email, calendar, drive, & sheets)
Familiarity with sap ariba functionality, workday procurement module, aravo, or the ability to quickly learn and use new applications
Comfortable with a remote work environment
Well organized, self-motivated, and team player
Have good communication skills, both verbal and written
