Role and responsibilities
The corrections program coordinator will report to the chief operating officer and will work with program team members and other staffThe corrections program coordinator is an important member of the organization and is responsible for providing support, creating curriculum, management, and oversight to the overall day-to-day operations of because i said i would’s corrections programOther responsibilities include the following:
Responsibilities:
Implement and manage character education and volunteer projects programs and services in correction facilities including juvenile detention centers, reentry, maximum security facility
Collaborate and independently develop program elements (with associated resources, i.eCurriculum, policies, etc.)
Understand program logic models and theories of changeProvide input into program design.
Develop strong, productive relationships with the 10-20 correction facilities where programs and services are delivered.
Visit correctional facilities and deliver programing in person with offenders and also train the trainer sessions
Provide regular communication to the chief operating officer and facility personnel (if applicable) regarding programmatic services and activities.
Ensure accurate tracking of services and adhere to strict confidentiality in participant’s record keeping.
Work within each location’s unique environment in order to best serve participants while meeting because i said i would’s expectations.
Recruit at least 10 new partners and facilities to participate in because i said i would’s correction’s program annually.
Improve results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; rewriting procedures when needed.
Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing results data and trends; compiling statistics; completing grant and subsidy applications.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
May be assigned responsibilities to special projects and outreach efforts.
Attends staff meetings and other meetings as designated
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification and education requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social worker, criminology or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience working in the field of corrections or related area.
2 years in developing relationships and partnerships with other community outreach.
Professional experience must include working with incarcerated individuals.
Ability to partner with agencies and institutions in the area of corrections.
Demonstrated proficiency using software systems for program data points and information.
Strong planning and organizational skills
Attention to detail and accuracy are essential, as are abilities to prioritize work and consistently meet deadlines, and to work as a team player
Preferred skills
Certification in adult learning
Corrections certificate – ccp
Experience with salesforce
