We are looking for experienced machine builders and related engineers who are interested in consultingYou don’t need to be a consultant today, but you do need to be an experienced engineer.
We have openings for permanent full time consultants advising manufacturers on the engineering aspects of product safety regulationsYour core role will be to review and assess machines for safety risks at all stages in the product life cycleYou will explain your findings to your clients and provide them with impartial and objective technical reports on your findingsYou will also explain the regulations to all levels of client staff, from shop floor to boardroom, and provide a sounding board for their questions and ideasThis involves:
Theoretical and practical risk analysis
Product inspection
Product testing
Report writing, and
Significant communication
We are looking for high quality experienced engineers who are capable of rapidly assessing unfamiliar equipmentOur primary focus is european ce regulation and semi s2, the company is an eu notified bodyPlease note, this is not an occupational h&s role, it is strictly an engineering role.
The role will require you to have or quickly gain a very deep knowledge of international product safety regulations, safety standards and global industry safety guidelines relating to machinery and electrical productsThe vast majority of our work is with industrial equipment.
You will be expected to identify the regulations that apply to the products you are inspecting, and be able to explain in clear language to your clients what those rules are, what they mean and how they affect themYou will be expected to help your clients understand why their designs do or do not comply with those rules.
We will provide you with training in all the essentials and give you the opportunities to learn the regulatory materialWe do not expect you to already know it, though it helps if you have a regulatory backgroundYou need to bring the engineering experience and the personality to be credible with your clientsYou also need to bring the determination to learn the legalities at every opportunity.
We need people who can hold their own in front of senior engineers from the world’s leading manufacturers and tactfully, accurately and constructively explain their product’s safety issuesYou will be working with experts from every field in engineering.
Day to day you will be working with our main office in virginia or at client sites, with our team behind youSometimes other members of our team will be present with you, sometimes you will be alone with the clientYou are required to be completely self-sufficient, highly autonomous, self-disciplined, rigorous, tenacious and have impeccable integrityWe are only interested in people who will always see the job through, correctly, to the end.
You should expect to travel extensively throughout the year, mostly within the usaMost assignments are 3-5 days, but occasionally you may have to travel on weekends.
We cover almost all manufacturing industries: energy, semiconductors, aerospace, packaging, machine building, defense, automotive, utilities, food processing, pharma, agriculture, geo-tech, communications, recycling, r&d etc, supporting some of the biggest names in critical infrastructure.
