How you’ll make an impact
As a sr embedded software engineer, you will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining the software components of the full boxcast hardware product lineYou will be a developer, thinker, researcher, tester, and tinker-erYou interpret vision from senior leadership by creating art with the code you write because it is in line with solutions achieving the company visionYou’ll test and iterate on existing and new product features to ensure they are on-brand, functional, usable, and accessible.
On the embedded team, you`ll work on the software that makes our custom hardware greatYou’ll work closely alongside hardware engineers to make our products into reliable, accessible, easy-to-use, indispensable tools that give customers the highest-quality streaming experience possibleYou’ll integrate embedded software functionality with boxcast’s cloud platform and provide our customers with a seamless, simple, end-to-end streaming solution.
What you’ll do
Develop reliable embedded software systems and features for current and future boxcast hardware products
Architect and build full-stack cloud software features to improve physical product workflows
Maintain and improve the existing codebase, adhering to version control standards
Continually improve embedded software development workflow & tooling
Achieve excellent project execution results by actively participating in sprint planning, kickoff, and review meetings
Mentor technical colleagues in your specific areas of technical strength and learn from technical colleagues that exhibit superior strength in technical areas you may have knowledge gaps
Collaborate with a cross-functional team of product designers, software engineers, hardware engineers, and business leaders
Manage the testing, validation, and release cycle of new firmware versions that affect thousands of users’ live video streaming equipment

Must haves
Bachelor`s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience
4+ years of experience developing software for an embedded environment
Excellent working knowledge of c/c++ in embedded systems
Experience with kernel-level board support and device drivers in embedded linux and u-boot
Experience with embedded linux-based firmware applications
Experience with high-throughput networking applications
Experience with microcontrollers and socs, and interfaces such as i2c, pmbus/smbus, spi, uart, usb, i2s, pcie
Familiarity with fpga development workflow & processeshigh attention to detail and process
Nice to haves
Experience with yocto/openembedded toolchain
Experience with xilinx socs
Experience with ruby, qt, golang
Experience with glib, gstreamer, google protocol buffers, zeromq, ble, and wi-fi
Experience with docker
Understanding of a modern streaming ecosystem, especially video & audio encoding/decoding
Experience in a startup tech environment
