Job purpose
The assistant production planner is a key member of the operations team supporting the weekly production process and coordinates accurate data management, reporting and analysis to track and improve processesThis position supports production planning, scheduling, packing/shipping, and purchasing to promote operational efficiency, data accuracy, and cost reductionIndividual is a high-level user of the erp system, both able to perform general operations within system as well as run, track and interpret queries and dashboards.
Primary functions and responsibilities
Skilled user of erp system with ability to perform all erp based operations, including part creation, bom creation, job entry, inventory transactions, job and production management on a daily and weekly basis to support accurate demand planning and purchase decisions.
Maintains the product catalog within epicor erp and preforms regular analysis to support catalog rationalization, inventory evaluation and obsolescence reviews.
Facilitates delivery of the weekly production plan to manufacturing and assists demand planning in tracking daily/weekly performance to plan.
Preforms cycle counts and maintains accuracy of raw material and finished goods inventories within the erp to facilitate efficient operations.
Run, deliver, and create daily/weekly/monthly operational reports to track performance and status of packing function, shipping function, production and inventory status to operations departments and executive managementCreate and deploy new queries, dashboards and reports to track and monitor new initiatives and improve operational efficiencies and accuracy.
Analyze and identify improvement initiatives within major operational areas - production scheduling, inventory movement from production to packing, turnaround times for order-routing-shipping for retail customers, turnaround times for order-packing-processing consumer orders.
Setup and improvement of new erp processes to improve physical warehouse organization, inventory visibility and planning, and productionPromote integration of modules among operations/shipping/production with support of it.
Required knowledge and skills
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Exceptional focus on detail and accuracy
Excellent pc skills and intermediate to advanced user of microsoft excel
Ability to analyze and recognize patterns within data, solve problems, and suggest cost saving, efficiency improving initiatives and tactics.
Ability to mutli-task in a high paced but rewarding environment
Positive and effective communication skills
