Do you like to manage people? are you known for your oversight skills? are you passionate about driver safety and regulatory compliance? if so, we have an opportunity that would allow you to manage our fleet on a daily basis, ensuring service is made according to customer instructions and in compliance with dot regulations and established internal policies and guidelines.
Your duties:
Responsible for the management of 10-35 company driversThe fleet manager (fm) is a key leadership position that oversees the day to day execution of his/her assigned driver fleetThe fm is accountable for the performance of their drivers in the areas of service, safety, utilization, and retentionThe fm will focus on maintaining positive employee relationshipsThe fm is responsible for conducting regular performance reviews with their drivers and determining corrective action plans when performance is below expectations.
Essential job functions:
Assists in new driver, owner/operator hiring/onboarding process.
Collects necessary devices, decals, cards, manuals, collects driver qualification files into a binderMails them all to the driver or hands when the driver comes in person
Communicates with senior executives about any issues, reports about finished and ongoing tasks
While hiring owner/operators, asks drivers to come to the yard and conducts visual & technical check of the tractor-trailerIf any issues are found, demands the owner/operator to resolve found issues.
Provides orientation sessions and mentors drivers to ensure success in areas such as proper use of apps, tools and systems, including, eld, document handling, organizational structure, communication/information flow with relevant person to resolve issues.
Ensures drivers are compliant with all fmcsa regulations such as: hours of service, random drug testing, proper licensing, permits and endorsements
Manages driver performance by setting expectations, conducting regular reviews and implementing corrective action processes up to and including termination when needed
Responsible for instant problem resolution with assigned drivers
Enforces understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures, including the code of conduct
Contributes to an atmosphere of trust and teamwork that values contributions of all employees in support of a high performance culture
Supports load planning in the areas of re planning and recovery of loads
Works until driver issues are resolved for the day and/or a proper hand off has been made
Monitors deliveries and pickups for service failures and proactively alerts load planning & carrier management of any loads in jeopardy of failure
Minimum qualifications:
1-5 years driver manager or fleet manager experience at a trucking company.
Strong knowledge of truck fleet management, understanding safety, regulatory and daily operational aspects of trucking business.
Strong leadership, communication, mentorship skills
Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills and change management
Must be a confident, self-starter and result oriented individual
Work schedule:
Remotely, from home, flexible hours: monday- saturday.
Must: make yourself available when needed to perform set duties
Payment:
We can pay our fleet manager in two options:
- fixed salary based on the fleet size
- payment for the amount of certain tasks done, plus performance bonus
