Facebook seeks a highly motivated attorney who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples’ lives to join facebook’s product counseling legal teamThis role will focus on supporting facebook’s products which include facebook, whatsapp, instagram, oculus, messenger, portal, facebook shops, and moreIt will require significant cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, as well as other legal subject matter expertsThis is an opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment, as we build and scale for our global community.
Review global products, features, platforms and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions
Provide and coordinate legal advice across complex and multifaceted legal issues such as data protection and privacy, intermediary liability, consumer protection, security, e-commerce, payments, integrity and other global legal frameworks applicable to the product you are supporting
Coordinate with public policy, communications, product management, engineering, product marketing, trust and safety, and other cross-functional teams on external communications, policy development, and product development and launches
J.dDegree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one us state bar
8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience)
Experience working independently and cross-functionally
Experience working on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
Proven problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills
In-house experience at a technology company
Experience advising clients on risk mitigation across technology product platforms
Experience in product counseling role building and supporting products
Privacy experience, including with international data protection frameworks
