Full job description
We’re looking for a lead data scientist to join the team here at fitbodYou will lead & manage our current team of data scientist, while also staying very hands-onYou’ll have the rare opportunity to work directly with technical founders and experienced engineers to impact hundreds of thousands of fitbod customers and help scale a very underrated form of exercise: strength-training!
Responsibilities:
Core product development:
Be a definitive resource for the fitbod algorithm
Lead and implements changes in the algorithm from ideation to implementation
Build supervised and deep learning models for server side algorithm
Data engineering:
Build/maintain etl jobs from the production database and third party data sources into the data warehouse using airflow
Deploy/serve ml models
Maintain/manage shared clusters for big data analysis
Manage the data warehouse
Data analytics:
Use sql/python/pyspark for analytics and reportsuse tableau to visualize data
Use tabpy to build python driven visualizations in tableau
Lead analytics for finance, marketing, product and support
Management:
Lead small teams of data scientist across the above four areas
Work cross functionally with teams to take projects from ideation to implementation
Develop documentation to standardize data science at fitbod
Data educator to non-tech team members
Present complex ideas to non tech stakeholders
Lead data sprints and data standups
Hire and onboard new data team members
Lead initiative for single source of truth in data
Preferred requirements:
7+ years of experience developing scalable software in python or go
M.s or higher in statistics, computer science or related field
Strong background in supervised unsupervised and reinforcement learning
Strong background using linux via the command line
Strong background writing bash scripts
Proven record of implementing ml models from eda to deployment (supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning)
Mastery of sql
Cloud computing expertise
Strong background in applied statistics: parametric and non-parametric, frequentist and bayesian techniques
Strong background in time series analysis
Experience planning and implementing a/b tests
Experience with business, marketing and financial analytics
Excellent communicator 7+ years of experience
Bonus if you have the following:
Phd in related field
Publications in relevant areas
Experience managing data science teams
Fitness-minded, practicing strength-trainer, or possess knowledge about strength-training best practices.
