In this role, your primary tasks will be to:
Design mechanical solutions for our new products – including injection-molded housing components, linear and 2d translation stages, drivetrain components, ergonomic and aesthetic design considerations, drop-test provisions, and mounting features for the electronics components – based on product specifications and inputs from other members of our technical team
Design and build prototypes for testing our product designs through its entire development cycle, including minimally functional prototypes in the early stages as well as fully functional prototypes for testing via focus groups
Support development and optimization of the manufacturing process for each new product, including creating protocols for quality control testing
Requirements
· bachelor`s degree in mechanical engineering, product design, or equivalent
· 2+ years of job experience in a related position
· excellent prototyping skills, with some examples of past work
· proficient in 3d cad modeling software (solidworks preferred)
· knowledge of product design principles, including ergonomics, aesthetics, and drop-test provisions
· a home office environment with a cad-ready laptop and high-speed internet connection
Preferred
· currently residing in or able to move to the bay area (california, usa)
· experience and interest in stem education
· industry experience in developing manufacturing processes for consumer electronics
· experience with user research and need-finding
