About the role
We are looking for a tax analyst to be responsible for the preparation, filing and payment of assigned north american sales and use tax returns, reconcile assigned general ledger tax accounts, maintain tax calendar, respond to and resolve governmental notices, perform tax research and various projects as assignedYour critical thinking, analytical skills and attention to detail are essential to the team’s ability to meet gap inc’s legal tax requirements in all north american taxing jurisdictions.
The role is based at gap inc.’s corporate shared service center in albuquerque, new mexico and will report to the manager of sales and use taxA hybird work environment between in office and work from home is available.
What you`ll do
Develop a strong working knowledge of sales and use tax prinicipals and concepts while utilizing tax software and tax research tools
Ensure all assigned north american sales and use tax returns are filed and paid timely
Reconcile and certify assigned tax general ledger accounts utilizing your analytical and accounting skills and knowledge
Research and respond to government notices to ensure gap inc’s legal requirement and good standing
Conduct tax research
Participation in special projects as assigned
Who you are
Fundamental understanding of accounting or finance including a basic understanding of gaap
Knowledge and understanding of work specific to taxes
Present analytical, complex problem solving and resolution skills that include working with cross-funtional teams
Ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlinestrong working knowledge of excel and familiarity with functions, v-lookups and pivot tables
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management and follow up skills
