As a senior network engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and monitoring of the organization’s local area and wide area networks, including a variety of maintenance, evaluation, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal network performance.
Some of the essential aspects of the position include:
Provide technical support on the lan/wan including the troubleshooting of equipment
Strive for 100% availability of all primary network connectivity and maintain alternative backup connections
Interact with vendors to coordinate repairs and seek out problem resolutions with both hardware and software issues
Perform installations of hardware and software upgrades as related to the network
Establish a baseline of network performance and develops and implements procedures to ensure satisfactory performance and quality service to usersBe proactive and take action to enhance connectivity by redesigning or ordering new connections or hardware before a notification of a problem
Educate users on network operations and procedures
Prepare technical documentation and diagrams as required for operation and troubleshooting of communications equipment as related to the network
Evaluate vendor products in hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment and recommends purchases consistent with users on network operations and procedures
Provide assistance in the evaluation and selection of new hardware and software as they relate to the network
Provide technical and procedural mentoring and guidance to it peers and team members
Conducts formal presentations to it and site support members, management and business partners
Develops timely project plansParticipates in the setting of team goalsAssures that project activities support departmental and corporate goal
Participate in on-call rotation
What it takes:
4-year degree in computer science, information technology or equivalent experience
Cisco ccnp preferred
5+ years experience and proficiency with ip networking design and operational concepts including subnetting, tunneling, qos using lan and wan connectivity media
5+ years experience and proficiency with cisco ios, nx-os and cisco hardware including routers, switches, wireless lan controllers, load balancers and firewallsMust be comfortable with operation and configuration using the cli
Experienced with various types of load balancing technologies (citrix, f5, and/or others)
Experienced with configuring and troubleshooting l2 technologies including rstp/mst, 802.1q, 802.1x, inter-switch trunking, lacp/etherchannel
Experienced with configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols including eigrp, bgp and ospfUse in a vrf-lite environment with mutual route redistribution is a plus
Familiarity with dmvpn, ipsec/ike, ssh and pki
Ability to design complex ip internetworks based on technical specifications
Advanced level knowledge of eigrp, bgp and ospf routing protocols
Advanced level knowledge of sdwan solution management, troubleshooting and architecture
Advanced level knowledge of data center networking technologies and practices including layer-2 tunneling techniques such as vpls and otv
Understanding and ability to design and implement high-availability ip internetworks
Possess and applies a comprehensive knowledge of lan / wan operation and proceduresMust possess the ability to train junior level administrators in technical complexities of assigned work, recommend changes i procedures, and operate with substantial latitude for un-reviewed actions and decision
Ability to travel up to 15%
