Head of Academic Quality Assurance (Higher Education)

Key Roles and Responsibilities ( Job Description - JD)  

Department:  South Asian Regional Campus, Colombo Sri Lanka.  

Reporting to: UK Head Office  

Responsible for: All regional Office quality assurance department staff in Colombo and 

South Asian country Coordinators.  

Salary Scale: 2.0 

Provide oversight and appropriate guidance for UKSA South Asian Regional 

Campus in Sri Lanka and other South Asian regional countries. 

Formulate the initial HE Academic Quality Monitoring framework with UK Head Office 

to monitor the HE academic quality in our Sri Lanka and South Asian Regional 

campuses. 

Coordinate remotely and in person with Sri Lankan and south Asian Reginal 

campuses to maintain the high academic quality and repot to the UK Head Office 

during the whole academic operations. 

Arrange and deliver trainings for UKSA Sri Lankan and South Asia Academic staff’ 

for HE Quality Assurance, student journey from enrolment to certification and 

adherence to the TVEC, UKSA and UK University regulations internally and 

externally. 

Help to establish a comprehensive programme monitoring and high quality 

assurance framework for the Sri Lanka and other South Asian regional Campuses  

Assisting the Sri Lankan TVEC (Tertiary and Vocational Education Commissions) 

approval and process and able to provide greater input in the programmes 

implementation as per Sri Lankan TVEC, NVQ and UGC standards.  

Monitor the UKSA Campuses to ensure that UK and Sri Lankan HE statutory 

requirements are met and complying with UKSA policies, systems and procedures. 

Help to implement UK University quality standards in Sri Lanka and in our South 

Asian campuses.  

Ensure the UK University’s Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) strategy in 

UKSA main and other south Asian campuses.  

Monitor, report and advise on our UKSA Visual Learning Environment portal.  

Any other duties assigned by the Sri Lanka and UK Directors of UKSA 

Required Skills and Knowledge (Person Specification PS) :  

Person must have minimum under graduate and post graduate qualifications from a 

recognized government University (priority will be given for candidates who 

completed PG from UK Universities), and have pertinent experience according to the 

discipline they work with 

The Post holder must have excellent inter personal and communication skills in 

English and other Sri Lankan local languages and must be good in numerate. 

The person should have high level & appropriate skills, knowledge in terms of 

academic report writing related to the HE academic quality assurance. 

Have a proactive approach with UK and SL team members and flexibility in terms of 

urgent accomplishment of certain academic works  

The Post holder must not have any unspent criminal convictions in the country 

for last five years 

Have relevant experience related to the Sri Lankan National Vocational Qualification 

framework and HE framework of SL (NVQs) for at least 3 years.  

Post holder must have pertinent Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) 

experience in HE.  

The post holder must be able to travel to approved UKSA campuses across the 

country and south Asian region if required.
