Position summary:
The srFinancial analyst ii will report to illumina’s business finance support teamThe successful candidate will support budget planning, forecasts, monthly operational/financial reviews and other ad hoc projects in support of the r&d organizationThe successful candidate will utilize strong business acumen, deep financial expertise and solid communication to become an effective partner within the organization.
*this person must reside or able to relocate to san diego, ca.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a financial business partner for the r&d organization, building key relationships and supporting the achievement of the department’s priorities and key objectives
Review operating expenses and capital expenditures to understand variances and improve future forecasts
Assist in the development of monthly packages to be utilized for financial management reporting, including variance explanations, forecast updates, scenario building and other analyses
Assist in the development of the annual operating plan (budget) and manage monthly and quarterly forecast updates for the r&d organization
Assist in the monthly/quarter-end close process by reviewing open purchase orders and coordinating with various business partners to estimate incurred expenses to inform forecast updates
Utilize financial systems to complete tasks (i.eCognos tm1, cognos bi, and sap)
Analyze, synthesize and translate data into key strategic inputs and insights that will drive strategic decision making at the executive level
Acquire comprehensive understanding of illumina’s technologies, products and market segment
Provide financial modeling, analytics, and general internal finance support to the r&d organization
Provide insight and consolidated information to the enterprise fp&a team to support board of directors decks, corporate performance reports, cost savings initiatives and dashboards
Requirements:
8+ years total finance experience, preferably in a high growth environment
Fluent knowledge of the main elements and drivers of income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flow
Proven ability to evaluate and solve complex problems and understand the strategic implications of different business approaches
Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to establish strong rapport and partnerships at all levels of the organization
Superb written communication and project management skills
Commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting multiple goals or deadlines
Advanced expertise in microsoft excel and powerpoint; knowledge of ibm planning analytics (cognos tm1) a plus
Self-directed and able to work well in a team environment
Exhibits clear leadership potential
Highly motivated with positive attitude and strong work ethic
Passionate about the company mission
Experience/education:
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a phd without experience; or equivalent work experience.
Mba, cpa or cma a plus
