Your role
As a senior software engineer at kohl’s you would have a deep level of knowledge in either backend or client-side development and have at least a general and growing knowledge of the other supporting technologies that make up a full application stackYou will work with such technologies as java, spring batch, spring cloud, mysql, middleware, kafka - as well as new rest servicesYou would be able to code, test, deploy, operate, and iteratively improve applications that achieve the desired business outcomes and are a pleasure to use.
You will work with an intimate balanced team which will include a designer, product manager and engineers with lots of autonomy to drive decisions around approach and design...everyone truly has ownership in the decisions and future direction of the team.

The ideal candidate will have:
Strong knowledge building development practices like ci/cd, test automation and cloud deployments
Strong knowledge of java and spring frameworks
Interest and/or experience in test driven development (tdd) and agile methodologies
Strong communication skills and interest in a pair-programming environment
Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and complex problems
Experience deploying to cloud environments a plus
Experience in web front-end and client-side development
Understanding of event-based frameworks (kafka, streams, etc.)
5+ years of relevant work experience
Ba/bs in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
Sql and database experience
