We are looking for mechanically and electrically inclined individuals who are both eager to learn new skills as well as build a quality relationship with customers providing efficient and effective troubleshooting support improving customers knowledge of our machines.
Service engineer description*
As a service engineer for kval, incYou will be immersed in a fast-paced, technology-laden environment working closely with customers in order to research and resolve a wide array of electrical, mechanical, and cnc program issues remotely via telephone and, in cases where there is an internet connection, via remote access software.
Responsibilities:
Work with customers to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and program issues by navigating machine programs, reading electrical and pneumatic schematics, navigating 3d models and pictures, along with asking questions in order to diagnose issues on a machine.
Maintain ticket documentation of all work performed in a complete and timely manner
Assist with loading programs to plcs, servo drives, and variable frequency drives for production machines and ship out.
Perform remote software updates or bug fixes to machinery in the field.
Create and update supporting documentation for internal and customer use.
Work with suppliers to identify support life of components and design upgrades for machines in the field to ensure supportability.
Travel as needed to install new machinery or upgrades along with training customers providing them the knowledge to maintain kval machinery.
Education requirements:
2-year degree in an engineering or physical science field
Required skills and experience:
Strong computer skills, e.g., using microsoft products and troubleshooting networking issues.
Electrical troubleshooting experience, with understanding of basic electrical principles.
Ability to read and understand pneumatic and electrical schematics.
Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service mechanical and electrical systems.
Strong desire to learn new disciplines and ask questions as needed
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with hand tools and electrical testing equipment
Ability to research and resolve complex problems using problem solving/decision making skills
Advanced time management skills
Preferred education:
4-year degree in an engineering or physical science field
Preferred skills and experience:
1 year of customer service experience a plus
Advanced understanding in troubleshooting, testing, repairing and servicing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and cnc-controlled systems and equipment(servo motors, bearings, cylinders, amplifiers, air/hydraulic valves)
Experience with any programming language, coursework a plus.
Programming skills/knowledge a plus (structure text, c#, c++, java, python)
Experience with state machine programming and ladder logic
Experience with motion controllers, galil and/or beckhoff motion controllers a huge plus.
Experience using autocad, solidworks, see electrical a plus
Ability to take leadership of a project
