About the role
As a member of the health policy and practice area, the health finance specialist reports directly to the vp for health systems and policyIn this role, your goal is to analyze public health finance from both a micro and macro levelAt a micro level, you will analyze financial and operational metrics of individual clinics, hospitals, and other health care providers to understand the business`s financial state and provide recommendations to drive sustainable revenue growth and operational efficiencyAt a macro level, you will analyze funding levels and priorities of state, federal, and tribal governments, and you will act as the internal subject matter expert of reimbursement rates and policies for diverse third-party payersThis role is a blend between finance & accounting, strategy, and public health policy.
Responsibilities
Perform economic analysis and model plans for health-care programs
Evaluate current and proposed strategies and interpret findings
Pro-actively identify market access opportunities for the organization through effective planning and development of financially sound business proposals
Communicate economic assessment results to appropriate internal and external audiences
Stay informed of changes to the medicaid/medicare reimbursement rates, indian health service (ihs) funding policies, and other relevant regulations
Required qualification
Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, or related field
5+ years of relevant experience
Experience analyzing and optimizing third-party revenue for a health service program
Knowledge of indian healthcare delivery system (ihs, tribal, and urban)
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
