At legal-ease law clinic, we work to empower individuals by increasing access to legal services for low to middle class income families that do not meet the requirements for legal aid and that cannot afford full price for profit law firms/attorneys.
Lelc is seeking a staff attorney for our office in napervilleWe are open to the type of employment including full-time, part-time, and contract basisWe are seeking someone to handle mostly family law cases with a few probate and guardianship casesIf you have experience in other areas and feel that you can broaden our scope of services offered, please feel free to address that in your cover letter.
Responsibilities
Among other duties as assigned, the staff attorney will:
Intake prospective clients
Represent client in court in person and via zoom
Prepare and draft legal documents
Maintain and nurture client relationships
Help solve legal problems for clients by analyzing the situation, understanding each client’s needs, and creating a strategic plan of action for each case
Advise clients on all aspects of divorce and other related matters
Negotiate settlements
Organize and keep records of all marital assets, debts, and possibilities for division when needed for divorce clients
Keep client files properly organized and up to date
Communicate with managing attorney and paralegal on all cases
Conduct outreach to other non-profit organizationsDevelop and present client education at community partner locations.

Qualifications
Candidates who are currently admitted to the practice of law in the state of illinois
1-5 years of experience in working with family law is required
Experience in trial and litigation (does not have to be specific to family law)
Excellent oral/written communication, research skills, and computer competency
Ability to build rapport with clients
Organizational and case management proficiency
Ability to work effectively as a team member
Some travel is required; applicant must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation
