Seeking your expertise in project, change, and people management! liberty mutual`s implementation solutions team is looking for a director, project management to lead a team of 10-11 project managers and a portfolio of 40-50 strategic initiatives for the grm us businessThis role is part of the operations group responsible for business process development, change management and complex project implementationThe director will manage a team of project managers, manage all aspects of highly visible, sensitive, and comprehensive sbu projects, and negotiate project objectives and direction with senior managersProjects vary in scope and duration.
Responsibilities:
Oversees project management staff responsible for projects typically considered moderately complex to complex in nature.
Defines the business case and engages in priority setting with input from stakeholdersIdentifies and gains agreement on project objectives, scope, timing, and resourcesEnsures project resources are optimally sourced and deployed.
Oversees the development and execution of project plans, checking progress against measures of success and ensuring value relative to costProvides guidance in applying project management tools and methodology.
Hires, develops, provides coaching to, and makes compensation recommendations for team membersDefines individual performance objectives and development plans, and ensures alignment with department, function, and sbu objectives.
Oversees and works to resolve issues that serve as roadblocks and/or place project objectives at riskIdentifies and provides visibility into trade-offs between options, while strongly influencing recommended approach.
Ensures project close-out steps are taken to include lessons learned/best practices that inform the success of future projects.
Fosters an environment in which continuous improvement methodologies are applied throughout the project management lifecycle.
Expert-level ability in managing all aspects of the project management life cycle for multiple projects at one time to include those complex in nature.
5 years of relevant experience to include experience effectively providing mentoring/guidance to others.
Demonstrated ability to select, develop and engage employees.
Demonstrated ability to exercise influence and build consensus; communication skills; promote collaboration, teamwork and change initiatives; and to build value for customers through a service orientation, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Displays strong business acumen and integrated thinking.
Advanced business operations knowledge to include understanding of multiple function`s value chain and market conditions strongly preferred.
Competencies typically acquired through a bachelor`s degree or equivalent experience.
Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience to include project management work and prior experience working in an effective leadership and/or management capacity.
