The role
The business intelligence manager will be responsible for the development and use of data systems and structures to support reporting for mass marketsThe position will lead a team of highly skilled application and database-oriented specialists who support the business intelligence reporting for internal and external clientsThe manager will direct daily operations to ensure accurate data is available in a timely and accessible mannerThis role will require close collaboration with various data-related teams (including it groups, product owners, and business leaders) to ensure a consistent global approach to data systems, procedures, flows, and definitions.
The main responsibilities
Expectations
Create and enforce policies for effective data management
Oversee the prioritization and scheduling of resources for all activities with a focus on supporting business intelligence reporting as well as the reporting for the broader mass markets organization
Collaborate with peer technology teams, process-improvement teams, and others on global standard practices and initiatives to ensure conformity, to communicate impacts of decisions, to influence planning, and to proactively prevent data issues
Collaborate with reporting teams in root causing and problem-solving data related issues including identifying, solutioning, tracking, and resolving items
Establish rules and procedures for updates and new additions to data structures
Support others in the daily use of data systems and assist with adherence to legal and company standards
Coach and mentor staff through regularly scheduled performance reviews, one-on-one meetings, and active participation in the professional development of the team members
Assist with data extraction when needed
Manage/assist with third party relationships with vendors as needed
What we look for in a candidate
Skills
Quantitative and qualitative analysis expertise (analysis, modeling, policy, methodology, financial/business impacts, reporting)
Capacity to understand complex data environments to produce relevant data structures meeting the needs of reporting teams
Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and resources (internal and external) simultaneously
Familiarity with modern database and information system technologies
Ability to tailor written and verbal communication to suit various audiences including summarizing technical language into an easily understood message
Familiarity aggregating decentralized data/information into rational business analysis of performance through problem solving and root cause analysis
Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills with a driven work ethic
Ability to lead/work multiple projects simultaneously
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
5-7 years related experience and 2+ years previous manager-level leadership experience preferred
Background in mass markets organization is a plus
