Full job description
Research assistant
Responsibilities are to research, collect and report information of a diverse nature, primarily statistical and economic data, but also historical, demographic, industrial and technological data of various kinds.
Required work experience is a proven ability to work independently and to rapidly find information using creative and improvisational methods.
Preferred education is a doctorate in a scientific discipline from a top university, however, any educational background that has fostered communication skills and the ability to prepare tactful, professionally written documents and letters is acceptable.
Skills desired are: fluency in unix and applications like vim, awk and other related analytical tools, ability to ocr and parse data, library science knowledge, expert word processing, expert spreadsheet user, 40 wpm typing or better, fluency in a secondary language such as german, french, italian and/or latin.
