As a director of product development, you will play a critical role in driving key strategic initiatives for the omatic cloudYou will lead multiple teams in developing and enhancing our integration software as a service (isaas) product that pulls together various applications and helps facilitate key business flows for non-profit organizationsThis position reports directly to the cto and is initially responsible for 3 agile teams.
This position requires you to take ownership, work with tight timelines and handle various tasks simultaneously while continuing a positive work cultureIn addition, great oral communication and written documentation skills are important for this role in promoting ideas throughout the organization.
In this role, you will:
Lead a team of accomplished architects, software engineers, quality assurance, and automation engineers to develop next-generation isaas platform.
Hire, develop, and retain extraordinary talent to scale the program and meet customer demand.
Manage and coach engineers to become proficient developers using best software development practices and processes.
Meet with team members regularly to set goals, measure progress, and drive professional growth in the team.
Coach lead engineers on how to work effectively in a triad and partner with ux and product management.
Supervise the delivery of high quality, well-written code that is quickly understood and easily supported by others.
Continually improve the onboarding process for new hires to ensure success and assimilation within the team and reduce ramp time.
Embed near-shore team members in product culture, processes, and practices.
Define, manage, and report on key performance indicators that measure team performance against organizational objectives.
Translate business needs into workable technology solutions that meet the needs of customers that scale both technically and operationally.
Provide architectural oversight to ensure coordination between platform initiatives and intentional design.
Promote user-friendly, beautiful products by cultivating a ux mindset among the development team.
Continually improve the product development methodologies by working through the agile facilitators.
Coordinate testing and release processes with the qa and product management team to ensure quality, continuous delivery, and support product experimentation.
Refine escalation procedures and issue handling with internal stakeholders to ensure the team meets the slas.
Work with product management to adjust team structure as omatic meets its business objectives.
Partner with product management to align on business needs, converge on solutions, and forecast work.
Analyze technology, resource needs, and engineering skill sets to meet the long-term needs for product development.
Take part in core team meetings to discuss status, risks, and mitigation strategies across delivery teams.
Requirements:
4+ years of management experience in an agile software delivery environment.
3+ years of enterprise application integration (eai) middleware domain experience with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects.
Deep understanding of integration and api concepts, patterns, and technologies.
Experience with cloud architecture patterns such as microservices design.
Experience with devops and ci/cd.
Experience with security best practices.
Experience in container orchestration solutions, test automation and observability.
Demonstrable experience coaching and developing individuals to meet career objectives.
Excellent written documentation and executive presentation abilities.
Preferred knowledge and experience:
Experience with managing down tech debt and balancing it with new product development.
Proficient in: c#, javascript, vue.js, html, css, azure services, sql server, cosmosdb, messaging.
Education:
Ba/bs or ms in computer science, it, engineering, mathematics or related field.
