We seek a mid to senior-level litigation associate attorney to manage a trial docket and handle corporate and business litigation mattersThrough high-level legal competency and client service skills, a successful candidate should expect to grow their client base and own their case loadCandidates should have at least 3 to 5 years of experience and be licensed to practice law in the state of texasThis position is for the prosper, texas location, and counsel should typically spend at least three days per week in the office.

Core areas of focus

Litigation management

· experience in litigation management, including risk assessment, strategy development, drafting complaints, discovery, motions practice, settlement evaluation, mediation, arbitration, appeals, and selection and management of outside counsel and experts

· demonstrate ability to lead and support paralegals and other supporting staff

· experience in pre-litigation, including demand letters, claims, subpoenas, etc.

Legal competency

· experience in business and general law

· possess the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism

· strong analytical & organizational skills with the ability to simplify the complex

· detail-oriented, problem solver and critical thinker excited about learning new things

· business acumen and general experience working at the intersection of business and law (e.g., drafting contracts and agreements)

Communication

· excellent oral, written, and listening skills with the ability to simplify complex matters

· communicate regularly with clients on case status

· prompt replies for all communications, including the court, opposing counsel, and clients

· comfort handling difficult conversations with clients and coworkers constructively.

Client service/relationship

· capable of delivering the client a zealous representation while possessing a good bedside manner for difficult topics

· eager to serve existing clients and grow own client base

· work with clients with little or no supervision

· speak truth to clients, respect clients, but know when to walk away from clients that mistreat others or our team

Areas of accountability

· win and provide a successful representation to clients.

· meet trial deadlines

· dissemination of critical information to appropriate stakeholders

· growth of the firm’s client base

Skills & experience

Must haves:

· +3 years litigation experience

· overall understanding of business law

· willing and capable of learning anything (i.e., curiosity)

· high ethical standards
