The role:
Polygroup is growing and we are looking for a very talented, experienced and passionate full-time mechanical engineer to be part of our innovation teamThis individual needs to have a proven track record in successfully bringing innovation to product categories, developing products and taking them to the next levelReporting to the vp of product development, this role will work cross-functionally with various departments in both the u.sAnd in asia to improve existing products as well as develop new productsThe mechanical engineer will provide expertise and hands-on guidance in all stages of product ideation, design and development, and will work closely with the innovation team to help transform conceptual designs and play patterns into manufacturable components and assemblies with dfma principlesThis will require strong skills in reliable function, mass production, cost reduction, safety and qualityThe mechanical engineer will play a central role on our innovation team, providing mechanical, manufacturing and assistance in proof of concepts and final productThe ideal candidate must be self-motivated as well as collaborative, with the ability to innovate and be part of our think-tank ideation strategy.
Requirements and skills:
7+ years engineering experience related to consumer products
Engineering degree required (me)
Must have experience successfully launching high volume consumer products containing electrical and mechanical systems
Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise throughout new product development stages
Must have expertise in working on complex equipment (motors, pumps, lighting…) as well as less complex items
Ability to provide final product and component cad designs which are close-too tool ready and production
Demonstrated understanding of quality, performance, schedule and cost objectives in a cross functional and / or technical environment
Ability to analyze engineering sketches, specifications and related data and drawings to determine design factors
Be able to modify design to correct operating deficiencies and/or reduce production issues
Strong understanding of manufacturing methods and techniques, i.e., injection molding, roto-molding, machining, assembly, etc.
A strong understanding in ux design, able to identify ways to improve how the product experience feels to the user
Ability to ideate, create, engineer, and design internal and external mechanisms used to create optimum performance across existing categories (christmas trees and lights, above ground pools and pool inflatables) and new categories
Highly organized and able to manage and oversea multiple projects in different phases of their respective development lifecycle
Experience working with creative professionals (designers and engineers) both within and outside the company
A solid understanding of factory and mass production environments
A commitment to excellence and exemplary internal and external customer service
Bring a `hands-on` collaborative approach to problem-solving
