Description
About the role:
This position is for an experienced software engineer with solid foundational knowledge of java and oracle technologiesAs a senior software engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team of highly technical developers and architects that work on major transformation initiatives within the it compliance and supervision departmentIn this role, you will be responsible for full systems life cycle (based on experience/skills) and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting application software that is delivered on time and within budgetServes as the primary point of contact on the most complex or escalated issues and may provide direction and guidance team membersApplies specialized business knowledge and technical skills to significant deliverables and projects that involve multiple it departments, business units and have enterprise impactHandles complex problems independently and demonstrates analytical thinkingThis role will be based out of our headquarters in stPetersburg, fl, however we are open to remote candidates that are based out of other locations in the u.s as well.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Analyzes complex system requirements, including identifying program interactions and appropriate interfaces between impacted components and sub systems.
Makes recommendations towards the development of new code or to reuse of existing code.
Leads or participates in assigned projects, including assigning tasks, coordinating efforts, and monitoring performance.
May recommend new technologies and methodologies to management for meeting business needs, resolving problems and exploiting opportunitiesRemains current with new technologies.
Obtains and evaluates information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration.
Participates in software system testing and validation procedures, programming and documentation.
Provides technical advice and assists in solving programming problems.
Writes and/or reviews system specifications, including output requirements and flow charts.
Assists in preparing project plans using project management tools.
Reviews test results; documents test activities, and records remedial actions.
Ensures proper analysis of problems and programming approaches to prevent rework and schedule slippage.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience and skills:
Bachelor’s degree (b.a.) in computer science, mis or related degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant development or engineering experience or combination of education, training and experience.
Skills:
Experience with java, spring, springboot, hibernate/jpa, web services – rest/soap, jms, mdb, cxf, and slf4j.
Strong knowledge/expertise of relational dbms concepts and hands-on in oracle, oracle pl/sql, data modelling.
Advanced sql skills with optimization and basic db trouble shooting (contentions, locks, wait events)
Experience working in continuous integration environment leveraging open source tools such as jenkins or git.
Understanding of the sdlc lifecycle for agile & waterfall methodologies.
Javascript frameworks experience with angular or react is nice to have.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
