We are looking for a technical proposal and cost estimating pro to work closely with our aerospace, automotive, heavy equipment and defense customers.
As an application engineer within our manufacturing solutions division, you will architect, describe, price and direct highly technical and custom automation assembly, automated guided vehicle, specialty machines and production process engineering projectsYour role will be vital to gathering all required information to engineer complex manufacturing automation systems at a very high level.
What else you will be doing: you will cost estimate and describe systems in a technical manner in the form of a proposal documentOnce the project is secured, you will be responsible to create a technical spec summarizing the scope of the equipment and kick-off/handoff the project to a dedicated project manager and engineering teamThis role provides direction and technical oversight to the project team based on the technical and financial details from the proposal, concept design and cost estimateYou will continue to be the liaison for our customers as needed.
Requirements: what we need you to bring to our engineering team:
Bsme, bsee or related technical degree with a higher level of experience
5+ years of experience with project management, technical proposal writing and cost estimating in an industrial, manufacturing, automation or custom capital equipment environment and across multiple industries
Experience with both mechanical and electrical design software packages such as solidworks or equivalent, modeling skills a plus, and autocad drawing/documentation skills a plus
High technical aptitude and good problem-solving ability in order to describe complex systems and machines at a concept level
Excellent technical writing skills as well as overall written and verbal communication and customer service skills
Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously, setting priorities and managing time both independently and in a team environment
Ability to travel approximately 20%
Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, must be a u.sCitizen or u.sPermanent resident and/or otherwise comply with itar requirements to be considered for this position
