Rippled waters engineering is seeking a junior water resources engineer/environmental scientist/ecologist to join our growing teamWe are a small, woman-owned, conservation-focused ecological restoration firm based in new jersey.
Applicants must be hardworking, motivated, and willing to learn new skills on the jobThe ideal candidate will be someone who is driven, focused, and sincerely interested in integrating ecology and designWork will consist of diverse projects throughout the northeast extending from connecticut through virginiaProjects, which will vary in type and scale and may include stream and wetland restoration, living shorelines, and stormwater management design.
Key job responsibilities
Supporting stream and wetland design projects
Developing living shoreline restoration design projects
Supporting stormwater management and green infrastructure design and retrofit projects
Creating design drawings
Preparing construction specifications and cost estimates
Completing field work monitoring pre- and post-construction
Conducting construction oversight of contractors and preparing daily field reports of findings
Required skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Project experience related to stream, wetland and stormwater management design
Knowledge and proficiency in the use of autocad/civil3d to develop design plans
Ability to work both collaboratively in a team environment and independently
Helpful skills
Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling programs (e.g., tr-55/tr-20, hec-hms, hec-ras, and hydrocad)
Experience with esri arcgis pro and gis files
Geomorphic assessment knowledge/experience (e.g., behi/nbs ratings, longitudinal profiles, wolman pebble counts, etc.)
Soil test pits and laboratory analysis experience a plus
Education
B.sOr m.sIn relevant field (e.g., civil, environmental, ecological, biosystems engineering or environmental science or ecology or fluvial geomorphology)
