Overview: responsible for leading a team of integrated communicators who have responsibility for the development and oversight of strategic planning and tactical implementation of internal and external marketing and communications efforts for lines of business and functional areas throughout the companyThe goal is to advance the organization’s position with relevant constituents, as well as to drive broader awareness and build the company’s reputation among target audiences while supporting growth and business development initiatives.
In this role, the leader of this team will also serve as the integrated communications executive for the largest business segment within the company, while managing a team of six+ professional marketing and communications leaders and external agencies as applicable.
Responsibilities include:
Developing and executing enterprise initiatives, promotional events and thought leadership strategies to advance the outlined objectives.
Directing and managing the media relations effort for the lines of business and key strategic initiatives, preparing spokespeople for interviews, drafting background materials, messaging, talking points and more.
• building and maintaining relationships with and pitch story ideas to key journalists who cover the sector.• collaborating with internal business partners and communications colleagues to create and implement integrated plans focused on internal efforts, thought leadership activities, media relations, social/digital and marketing and all other communications workstreams
Supporting all marketing collateral, event and video projects
Building and maintaining relationships with defense and civilian government public affairs officers
Providing insightful, informed and strategic communications counsel to business leaders
Managing multiple workstreams and projects simultaneously
Reports to the svp of marketing and communications
Qualifications
Required experience:
A minimum of 15 years of experience as a program communicator/media relations practitioner or equivalent in the government contracting space.
College degree requiredAdvanced degree preferred.
At least 8 years of communications management experienceExperience as a journalist or news producer preferred.
