Job summary:
Safer space seeks a mental health content creator to research, develop and create content that helps in advancing health, wellbeing and equity to support bipoc communitiesThe ideal candidate will work together with other safer space content creators and designers to carry out the following responsibilitiesThis is a non-compensated opening that is a volunteer in nature at a social impact non-profit.
Essential functions:
Provides written content to convey valuable mental health information that engages and motivates the reader to action.
Researches emerging data and conducts evidence-based research on mental health topics.
Creates content that is specific to support bipoc and qtbipoc communities, and creates copies for various mediums (e.gAds, blog posts, newsletters)
Creates content that reflects organization values and communication guidelines
Writes scripts from that complex information in a simplified and entertaining way.
Researches and develops content for training material.
Collaborates with the social media team to understand which content is performing well on media platforms.
Submits content to graphic designer on a weekly/monthly basis.
Required skills/abilities:
Write inspiring accessible content that adheres to standards of plain language and can successfully convey complex information to readers at varying levels of health literacy and numeracy.
Make complex clinical issues comprehensible to a general audience and create actionable messaging to promote behavior changes.
Synthesize complex scientific articles into an easily digestible format
Creative writing skills and researching skills.
Education and experience:
Experience in content creation, writing or education with an interest in mental health topics.
Volunteering hours: 3-5 hours/week
Supervisory responsibilities
The position has no supervisory responsibilities but will report to the supervisor of content materials.
