On any given day, depending on your specialization and interests, your responsibilities may include a few or all of the following tasks:
Assembly of test assets and maintenance
Participating in fabrication and procurement
Conducting troubleshooting
Conducting data analysis
Preparing reports and procedures
Qualifications we require
High school diploma plus seven or more years of directly relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to hold a doe q-level security clearance.
Ability to travel up to 25% to support functional electrical testing and program needs.
Selected applicants will be required to take a job placement assessment before beginning the job to ensure that they can perform the essential physical requirements, with or without accommodations.
Qualifications we desire
Associate`s degree in an engineering/electrical field of study.
Active doe q-level security clearance.
Experience with nuclear weapon design, development, qualification, or production.
Experience working with classified and hazardous materials/hardware.
Experience with sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition equipment.
Experience with electrical circuits and diagrams.
Experience with programming (labview, etc.).
Experience working in laboratory and field environments.
Proficiency with computer hardware and software.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

The w87-1 system team is responsible for designing and qualifying the w87-1 warhead and for working with the gbsd missile system project officer (spo) to integrate the warhead with the missileThe team comprises advanced-degree technical staff with backgrounds in electrical, mechanical, and systems engineeringAdditionally, the team includes core partners in project management, reliability, quality, nuclear safety, surveillance, engineering sciences, and material sciencesThe w87-1 system team collaborates closely with llnl as design agencies for the programThe system team also participates in multiple subgroups supporting the usaf project officers group (pog).

Position information
This limited term employee (lte) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at sandia`s discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in lte positions may bid on regular sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
