Serco’s machine learning sector develops a wide range of capabilities addressing our customer’s challenges which include data integration and fusion, representing expert knowledge for machines to use, and leveraging complex data sources to optimize workflows.
You will be part of a 5-7-member team that works closely with our onr customer and other teams to deliver innovative systems to the sailorsWe are seeking a software engineer to perform research & development on analytics to process text and track data to improve situational awareness for sailors and marines.
In this role, you will:
Design, create and modify software written in java and/or python
Package and deliver software for a linux environment using standard devops principles
Collaborate with co-workers, leadership, and clients to understand client problems, identify solutions, and demonstrate software solutions
Participate in internal and client-defined agile software development processes
Write technical software documentation and explain software design and implementation to co-workers, clients, and partners
Qualifications: to be successful in this role, you will have:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related discipline from an accredited university
The ability to obtain a secret clearance
Working knowledge of java, python, or matlab
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong team player who can effectively contribute to project development
Additional desired experience and skills:
Experience with or coursework in machine learning
Experience with tensorflow
Experience with java ee application development and related standards (jax-rs, cdi, config, servlet)
Experience with containerization and container orchestration technologies (docker, kubernetes, openshift)
Working knowledge of git and bug tracking tools such as jira
