Sourcing manager
Privately held distributor in the washington, dc area seeks sourcing manager to add profitability to the company through effective sourcing of materials globallyExperience in international sourcing required.
About the role:
We are currently seeking a sourcing manager to lead the sourcing/procurement functionThis role interacts with senior management to properly position the company’s product offering consistent with corporate objectives.
What you’ll do:
Develop appropriate supply chain strategy to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost.
Plan, manage, and coordinate all activities related to the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet the changing levels of product demand.
Work with freight forwarders and transportation companies to set best route and rate (review and approve all freight terms and agreements).
Oversee all procurement and determines best practice for freight in and freight consolidation.
Continually identifying, vetting and negotiating with current and new suppliers globally for higher quality, lower cost, new products
Our ideal candidate
Education, experience, and licensing requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain/logistics, or equivalent experience
5+ years of supply chain, logistics, or warehouse management experience
Quick learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain focus, and adapt to a variety of challenges
Ability to conduct detailed procedures in a time constrained environment
Able to work independently and within a team
Excellent communication, organization, planning, and collaboration skills.
Ability to ship products to customers while working with shipping and customs agencies
Experienced in international and domestic import/export logistics
Osha or hazmat knowledge a plus
