Job description: position summary:
The it applications program manager is a senior it professional who is responsible for managing a complex portfolio of inter-related projectsWithin spartannash, the major applications portfolios include retail, supply chain and business intelligenceThe it applications program manager is responsible for overall project delivery within one of these portfoliosThe successful candidate is expected to manage and structure large scale initiatives and the interdependencies of projects being delivered within his or her domain.
The it applications program manager has extensive experience with managing multiple streams of inter-related projects and understands how different projects interlink and overlapThis individual is able to organize, structure and resource projects for successful delivery, and is able to direct multiple project managers to achieve overall program objective
.
Here’s what you will do:
Work closely with the retail it director to create clarity and transparency of projects in the retail space, luding project pipeline, in-flight project status, budget and overall health of project delivery.
Manage demand intake for new projects within the retail portfolioWork with project managers to ensure projects have a clear line-of-sight to execution, organized with the right resources and budget.
Provide governance to projects within the program portfolio - ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and with the right quality.
Accountability as the lead project manager for high criticality / high complexity projectsBring thought leadership to the approach for a project and the critical glide path for high complexity projects, ensuring that the project team has the appropriate it and business resources in place.
Mentor and guide project managers executing projects within the program portfolio – develop
Align with the spartannash project management office to drive consistency in project execution methodologies, project artifacts as well as ensuring projects pass through relevant project gates and review checkpoints.
Reporting on program performance to business and it executive leadership.
Accountability for project budgets and ensuring project managers manage and maintain fiscal discipline in projects.
Work with the spartannash project management office and the applications operations leader to drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and methodologies.
Here’s what you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or management information systems or related business degree.
14+ years of experience as an it professional with relevant experience in project management of large initiatives as well as managing a portfolio of projects.
Experience with directing project managers and leading others.
Experience with relevant it project execution methodologies including both waterfall and agile methodologies.
