Description
Title: senior engineer – backup
Job type: permanent
Location: virtual
Role:
The senior backup engineer becomes part of the backup as a service team that develops new features, schedule platform life cycle management, performs business impact analysis and infrastructure risk assessment of the managed backup service offerings for sungard availability services ensuring the best customers possible.
Responsibilities:
As part of an agile team develop and implement new features for our backup as a service offering
Coordinate and/or participate in platform life cycle management
Problem analysis for long pending/reoccurring issues
Maintain knowledge of multiple technologies in sungard as shared environments as well as customer dedicated environments.
Perform business impact analysis and risk assessments to reduce the likelihood of significant service outage or disasters
Adherence to all sungard as’ processes and procedures.
Perform after-hours support in an on-call rotation as needed.
Support to prepare the technical document of procedures to ensure sungard as support team members
Profile:
Bachelor’s degreeDesirable.
Certification in a major backup technologyDesirable.
Total of 4 to 6 years of industry experience that included a minimum 3 years of experience as a backup administrator for large complex/hybrid environments ideally including vmware vsphere cloud environmentsEssential.
Experience with multiple backup technologiesDesirable.
Experience with any of the backup product veritas netbackup/dell avamar/veeam/carbonite serverEssential.
Experience with devops and scriptingDesirable.
Strong quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills, with demonstrated ability to determine root cause to performance shortfalls and implement corrective actionsDesirable.
Knowledge of agile framework, ci/cd pipeline, jira, devops etcDesirable.
Should exhibit knowledge to integrate data protection infrastructure and applications using awsEssential.
Should be innovative and interested to optimize the solution with upcoming technologiesEssential.
Experience working within global teamsEssential.
Strong problem isolation and resolutions skills requiredEssential.
Understanding of virtualized environmentEssential.
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervisionEssential.
