Role summary/purpose:
The vp, iam aws engineer will play a key role in the engineering and delivery of solutions that support strategic modernization and transformation initiatives for synchrony’s aws environmentThis individual will be responsible to lead the development, testing, implementation, and support of aws iam solutionsAdditionally, this individual will help support, influence, and advance the cloud iam solution team’s strategy and roadmap for enabling our business.
This position is remote, where you have the option to work from homeOn occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture eventsWe’re proud to offer you choice and flexibility.
Essential responsibilities:
Design and document aws iam solutions to meet requirements working closely with security architecture, application, and product teams
Develop automation necessary to build, test, deploy, and maintain aws iam solutions adhering to devops processes
Implement aws iam solutions using cloud formation templates and appropriately designed configurations that meet the necessary specifications or requirements
Evaluate existing iam permission policies and adjust as necessary to adhere to secure-by-design principles
Troubleshoot iam authentication and authorization issues as they pertain to aws iam configurations
Ensure effective security protection controls are in place using iam policy conditions, trusted entities, and all other applicable constraints
Provide deep subject matter expertise for aws identity & access management services, entities, configuration, and best practices
Apply technical knowledge, industry experience, expertise, and insights to contribute to the development and execution of an iam cloud solution strategy
Day-to-day management and maintenance of aws iam configuration required to support business requirements, application integrations, workloads, regulatory compliance, and other cloud platform efforts or deliverables
Collaborate across a wide audience of stakeholders regarding business objectives, priorities, and impact of proposed changes
Collaborate with various groups and individuals to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/requirements:
Bachelor`s degree and a minimum 5 years of information technology experience or, in lieu of bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma/ged and a minimum of 9 years of information technology experience preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience engineering and delivering aws solutions for enterprises
Minimum 2 years of experience in software development utilizing multiple programming languages such as python and powershell
Desired characteristics:
Strong engineering / architecture skills; especially in security
Hands-on experience working across various identity functions including identity governance & administration, authentication authorization, directory services, privilege management, and secrets management
Experience designing and building with devops, api-driven technologies, and fully automated service delivery capabilities
Strong executive presence and communication/presentation skills
Proven analytical mindset; ability to identify patterns or correlation within data sets
Critical attention to detail; ability to coordinate multiple deliverables across multiple teams
Knowledge of personally identifiable information (pii) data security standards
Knowledge of payment card industry (pci) data security standards
Knowledge of laws, policies, procedures, or governance relevant to cybersecurity for critical infrastructures
Knowledge of cyber defense and information security policies, procedures, and regulations
Knowledge of information technology (it) risk management policies, requirements, and procedures skill in creating policies that reflect system security objectives
Eligibility requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of section 19 of the federal deposit insurance act.

The salary range for this position is 85,000.00 - 170,000.00 usd annual
Salaries are adjusted according to market in ca and metro ny and some positions are bonus eligible.
