Role the senior civil & structural engineer will report to the structural engineering managerThe senior civil & structural engineer is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and sealing code-compliant structural calculations, specifications, and details to support the design and permitting of solar photovoltaic systems, solar roof and energy storage for tesla`s residential design teamThe position relies on experience working as a licensed professional engineer with an emphasis on residential roof framing systemsThe ideal candidate will be detail-oriented yet able to manage a large volume of work while still maintaining service level agreementsExcellent communication skills are essential for both internal and external communications.
Responsibilities
Perform engineer of record duties by providing certification letters and plans for permit approval
Prepare, review and seal wind and seismic calculations
Prepare, review and seal structural calculations to qualify existing buildings for roof-top pv systems and energy storage systems
Design and specify upgrades when necessary
Collaborate with in-house engineers in developing standards for implementation across the engineering team
Contact building departments on behalf of the company to discuss ahj/code requirements, and clarify or dispute rejections.
Act as a resource and educator to engineer i/ii level employees to better their understanding of engineering concepts and increase their knowledge of code reference material
Work cross-functionally with other teams within and outside the engineering department to ensure clients’ needs and internal deadlines are met
Use autocad 2d and custom software tools to prepare structural details, enhancements, and specifications for problematic and challenging projects which require special attention high level of customization
Perform additional duties as assigned and/or directed
Requirements
3+ years’ in engineer of record role
3+ years` experience in residential solar and energy storage system design preferred
Ncees record holder preferred
Ability to display high level of understanding of engineering concepts and honed judgement with respect to residential structures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Excellent customer service skills required
Flexible schedule, including occasional weekend work
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
Flexible location and remote work available
Autocad experience preferred
