Job summary
The trimble agriculture division is looking for a software engineer with android/java/c++ experience to join their core vehicle steering development teamThe vehicle steering development team creates semi-autonomous vehicle guidance products with support for 1000s of agricultural vehicles around the worldYou would be joining the core product development team for these systems, working directly with engineers across many different disciplines to design, create, and maintain automated vehicle control productsYour role would be primarily focused on the user interface (ui) capabilities of these systems in our flagship android displays, writing android ui code in java, and connecting with and gathering information from multiple embedded devices in native c++ code.

Key responsibilities
Develop user interface capabilities for controlling vehicle steering systems
Work directly with engineers across many disciplines on product development/support
Assist in breakdown and estimation of new feature development
Understand agriculture workflows and use cases to design best in class product capabilities
Quickly learn how existing products and technologies work, through analysis of large, complex, distributed codebases involving multiple devices, and through communication with domain experts
Drive good design and development practices such as test-driven design, object oriented design patterns, and android best practices
Adapt to different products/languages as needed to accomplish tasks
Skills & experience required
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field of study
Demonstrated strong java programming ability
Some c++ programming ability
Strong understanding of object-oriented software design patterns and best practices
Familiarity with using linux as a development environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem-solving ability
Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
Curious, self-starting, able to work in a rapidly changing environment
Preferred / nice-to-have experience
Previous ui development experience
Strong c++ programming ability
Familiarity with android architecture and application development
Familiarity with real-time and multi-threaded systems
Familiarity with distributed application development
Sql database experience
