Ues, incHas an opportunity available for a full time, mid-career technician with experience conducting laboratory experiments on developmental systemsThis position will be working with our team at wright patterson air force base in dayton, oh, with potential for interactions at multiple air bases across the countryExperience working with aircrew flight equipment (afe), and the aircraft sustainment community is a plusAn ideal laboratory technician will be able to:
Perform accurate spectral measurements of aircraft instrumentation in order to assess possible performance impact related to human eye protection techniques.
Test candidate materials as well as prototype devices in both laboratory and field environments.
Tests will encompass optical properties (transmission, reflection, haze) as well as durability performance (scratch, sun exposure, etc.).
Conduct experiments using various laser sources
Develop appropriate test protocols as well as construct necessary test configurations and devices.
Ensure test equipment and laboratory apparatus is fully functional at all times and diagnostic equipment is in current calibration.
Utilize existing or establish new relationships with af flight and sustainment community to aid in prototype screening and requirements definition.
Engage with end-users on protection device requirements and prototype performance
Occasional travel will be required
Report findings both in written and verbal presentation format
Requirements:
Associate degree or higher in physics, chemistry, or similar field of study is preferred; equivalent work experience in a laboratory or aircraft maintenance environment is acceptable
Hands-on experience executing laboratory experiments and gathering response data.
Congenial personality able to work with or build relationships with aircraft and flight environment personnel to enable peer-like interaction reviewing aircrew requirements and procedures.
Experience interacting with warfighter user community or afe shops is preferred
Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance is required; an active clearance is a plus
Working level experience with office365 products a plus
This position is working within a government facility and requires u.sCitizenship
