This notice is issued under direct-hire authority to recruit new talent to occupations for which nist has a severe shortage of candidates.
Responsibilities
This position will conduct systematic research in problem areas of video search, multimedia information access, and evaluation of search and information accessLeads evaluation activities for video and multimedia search, video summarization, and related subject areas, including the design and development of datasets, evaluation plans, metrics, assessment tools, and scoring methodsWill also lead community-based evaluation activities involving researchers investigating advanced methods combining information access and computer vision, including developing and circulating evaluation plans, leading planning activities, and dissemination of evaluation results in publications and technical talksDevelop technical briefs, publish developed processes and findings, and contribute to software development.

Qualifications
Basic requirements:
Bachelor`s degree in computer science or bachelor`s degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer scienceAt least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculusAll academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
In addition to the above basic requirements, applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of the specialized experience at the gs-12 level (zp-iii at nist)Specialized experience is defined as designing evaluations of multimedia information access technologies and leading community technology evaluation effortsExperience is to include developing and implementing metrics, statistical analysis, and evaluation data set design
