The role
As a recruiting lead at upstart, you will manage a team of highly skilled recruiters and sourcers across all the pillars of engineering (software engineering, data engineering, devops, infosec and it)You will not only play a critical part in upstart’s explosive growth, but also be a shepherd of the company’s mission and valuesThis will entail developing and leading the recruiting strategy for all the engineering pillarsAt the same time, you will be responsible for coaching and developing our recruiting staff and designing, implementing and optimizing selection processes focused on meeting department and company objectivesYou must be data driven, with a track record of innovative and effective recruiting and hiring execution resulting in a clear, measurable business impactThis role will report to our head of technical recruiting and is located in our san mateo headquarters.
Position location - this role is available in the following locations: remote, san mateo, columbus, or austin
Time zone requirements - this team operates across all time zones.
Travel requirements - this team has regular on-site collaboration sessionsThese occur at minimum 3 days per quarter at the san mateo or columbus office, with additional travel permitted for those that want to meet their stakeholders during their team visitsIf you need to travel to make these meetups, upstart will cover all travel related expenses.
How you’ll make an impact:
Oversee recruiting strategy and execution for upstart’s engineering teams, by leading a group of ~5 recruiters and sourcers to deliver top tech talent in a dynamic environment.
Partner with the engineering leadership team to build a recruitment strategy that complements our tech business, providing industry insight and competitive intelligence.
Design, refine, and optimize recruiting reports and dashboards to analyze, forecast, track and communicate key operational metrics to the business, while using metrics to drive operational excellence across the team.
Stay abreast of new trends in the industry and marketplace and maintain up-to-date knowledge of recruiting issues related analytics and compliance relative to our recruiting efforts.
What we’re looking for:
5+ years of overall recruiting leadership experience - the majority of which, should be focused on technical recruiting - in a fast-growth technology company
Proven track record of developing people, leading and managing high-performing teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
A deep understanding of how to run a high quality, full-cycle and custom recruiting process and coach and lead a team to execute this plan seamlessly
Consistent track record in driving efficiency in the use of technologies, process, and workflow
Proven success partnering with executives and leaders cross-functionally
Proven comfort level and success in managing remote teams effectively
Excellence in relationship building, consulting, negotiation skills both internally and externally
Data-driven and results-oriented mindset that demonstrates critical thinking abilities and an analytical and quantitative approach
Detail-oriented project management skills with the ability to multi-task and stay focused in a fast-paced environment that moves with a constant sense of urgency
