What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?
The enterprise data & analytics organization at vmware is looking for a business analyst who will work with key business customers and it partners to deliver business intelligence, advanced analytical and data science solutionsThe position requires the business analyst to be a self-starter with strong business intelligence and data science skills who is comfortable working with distributed teams, at all levels in the organization.
Success in the role: what are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
You will be tasked with solving a real-life business problem that requires processing/analyzing terabytes of data
You will be tasked with turning data into reliable and scalable insights, using tableau/mode, to help drive/recommend business decisions
You will establish and grow partnerships with our key business partners to provide strategic consulting services and solve data related needs and challenges
You will ensure that the work is organized as projects with clear deliverables and timelines
You will analyze business drivers using sql & python scripts
You will translate business needs into a set of workable, data driven requirements and enable curated data sets across vmware data & analytics ecosystem
You will support the team with technical expertise and if needed hands-on execution
You will organize/delegate project tasks to other team members and be responsible for timely delivery
You will act as a catalyst to socialize eda capabilities, solutions, and data assets to advance the data agenda of the enterprise
You will align with the enterprise level data strategy, line of business strategy, and it strategy across a variety of business and technology stakeholders and initiatives

Ability to see the big picture while maintaining a curiosity to understand and own the detail.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and gain agreement for vision, strategy, and plan
Ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously supporting the execution of their deliverables.
Proven experience in leveraging best practices of standards, processes, and policies to effectively manage and improve operational efficiencies.
Proven experience working on large sets of data, using tools to extract, analyzing data, and visualizing data (tableau, mode).
Proficient in sql & python and experience with efficient processing of large data setsAbility to write sophisticated and optimized queries against large databases
Bs/be in computer sciences, math, statistics or related fieldMba preferred
3-5 years of experience
