Technical marketing at vmware provides the bridge between the company’s marketing efforts and its engineering knowledgeYou will play a critical role in supporting sellers, solution architects and partners in their revenue generating efforts because you will become an expert and evangelist on vmware’s technologies and know how to integrate them into end-to-end solutions that address the business and it challenges of our customersYou will be instrumental in shaping the future of vmware’s strategic multi-cloud offerings by creating specialized content that explains the cloud service architecture, it’s features and capabilities, integration with native cloud services and customer use cases.
Success in the role: what are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
You will develop collateral such as blog articles, technical presentations, demos, videos, technical guides, designing hands-on-labs, and writing code samplesThis information is presented in various forums to technical audiences such as architects, administrators, and developers.
Because this role will have a substantial emphasis on technical content creation – you will be expected to produce various asset types in different levels of depth at a sustained paceYou will also be responsible for engaging actively with other teams who are the consumers of this content and refine and adapt your production to best suit their needs.
Through the research and testing required for the generation of this content, you will become a leading expert on the vmware cloud/iaas offering, and therefore be able to promote this offering at conferences and other events.
The work: what type of work will you be doing? what assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
As the vmware cloud/iaas technical marketing manager, you will:
Continue to build and refine your subject matter expertise for this solution and vmware’s overall multi-cloud portfolio
Understand and synthesize technical information into concise, customer benefit-oriented narrative
Collaborate with a cross-functional team (e.gProduct marketing, corporate marketing, sales engineers, product management, engineering) to define and create technical content
Evangelize vmware cloud/iaas to internal and external audiences
Create both internal enablement and public facing technical content such as blogs, demos, presentations, whitepapers, videos, hands-on labs, and more
Deliver informational webinars, training sessions, and podcasts to architects, administrators, and developers
Participate and speak at industry conferences, roadshows, and other live forums
Ensure that technical feedback from partners and customers is brought back to the respective product managers to ensure it is noted and taken into consideration when decisions are being made around future technologies and solution directions.
What is the leadership like for this role? what is the structure and culture of the team like?
You will be joining a small team within the larger cloud infrastructure business group product marketing teamYou will be working closely with dedicated sales, pre-sales, engineering, product management & product marketing individuals focused on vmware cloud/iaas, but you will also have the opportunity to collaborate across the broader product marketing and corporate marketing functionsAs an incubation business, the vmware cloud/iaas team pulls together to succeed and as a result is a very close-knit community where everyone helps each other for the good of the business.
