The role:
Vert energy group, a 2021 inc5000 fastest growing company, is seeking an experienced and capable energy efficiency engineer to assist our team with conducting energy audits, water audit, retro-commissioning in los angelesThe successful candidate must be located in the los angeles / orange county metro area and willing to travel as needed for projects in the state of california and occasionally to other states.
Candidates should possess strong technical capabilities including strong proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and control systemsExperience with performing energy audits is a must, additional training will be provided.
Job description – energy engineer
We are looking for a dynamic and highly energetic individual with strong technical abilities and a proven ability to balance multiple concurrent projectsYou will be responsible for a variety of tasks including completing whole facility energy audits, water audit and retro-commissioning tasks , creating building energy consumption, identifying, and quantifying energy conservation measures.
Detailed responsibilities include:
Under direction of management and srEngineering staff provide ashrae level energy audit, water audit and retro-commissioning services
Conduct facility walk-throughs to identify energy and water efficiency opportunities.
Conduct functional testing, install/remove data loggers and analyze data.
Analyze and input utility bill information and perform benchmarking analyses.
· technical report writing, including results and actionable recommendations.
Interact with customers to address questions or concerns about building energy related questions.
Attend internal and external meetings as required.
Timely response to client e-mail and phone messages
Execute project tasks on time and with technical proficiency.

Required qualifications
We require our energy efficiency engineer to have:
Bachelors’ degree in engineering
2-3 years’ experience of conducting commercial energy audits (on-site) and writing commercial energy audit reports, with the ability to make energy and water efficiency recommendations.
Knowledge of hvac systems; lighting systems; building control systems; and water systems
Qualified engineers will have at least one of these certifications:
Energy audit certifications:
Certified energy manager (cem)
Certified energy auditor (cea)
Building energy assessment professional (beap)
Certified commissioning professional (ccp)
Certified building commissioning professional (cbcp)
Existing building commissioning professional (ebcp)
Building commissioning professional (bcxp)
Preferred technical qualifications
Eit is a plus
Experience using energy modeling programs such as energy pro or equest
Ability to read, understand and interpret building floor plans, site plans, and zoning maps.
Basic knowledge and understanding of title 24 and other building codes
Familiar with different energy auditing tools (data loggers, light meters etc.)
Demonstrated knowledge in technical subject matter including building systems (hvac, building envelope, and lighting systems)
Proficiency in microsoft software, including excel but also word, outlook, and powerpoint.
Other knowledge, skills and abilities
Effective listening and strong verbal and written communication skills in person and over the telephone.
Must be able to read, write, speak & comprehend english.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Professional presentation and demeanor
Ability to adjust work schedule to meet deadlines.
Self-directed, organized, and able to work with minimum supervision.
Ability to successfully work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors
Demonstrated interest in the building science, energy efficiency and/or sustainability fields.
The ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures and company mission, vision and values.
Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
Self-starter and highly motivated to excel.
Physical requirements
Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
Ability to work outdoors and in unconditioned rooms on occasion.
Must have ability to travel approximately 20% of the time both in and out of state; and,
Requires frequent bending, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout the work shift.
