The opportunity at volta charging we are seeking a design engineer to join our operations team and help expand our in-house site design effortsYou will help forge a new path for volta and expand what our teams are capable ofYou will create new tools, processes and design solutions as we establish this new team within voltaThe design engineer will be responsible for creating and managing evse site designs, obtaining permits, and incorporating new technologies and products into design tools and templatesThe design engineer will also work closely with operations and cross functional teams on managing portfolios of various evse projectsWe are open to this position being based at our headquarters in san francisco or working remotelyYou will report to the director of construction operations.
In your first 90 days, you will
Create design drawings for evse sites including civil, electrical, and other drafting/design items required per project
Manage project admin items through project management tool and coordinate with cross functional teams as needed
Support permitting efforts, work with city staff on plan check comments, revise drawings and prepare materials to support permitting applications when needed
After twelve months, you will have accomplished:
Create and maintain cad templates, drafting standards, design details, and other cad items
Be the master of your projectsWork with volta operations project managers on coordinating additional support for project designs as needed
When required for special or complex projects, conduct field visits to project sites or ahjs for complex or difficult sites
What you bring to volta charging
3-5 years (min.) of experience designing electrical projects, preferably in a related field (evcs, solar, energy efficiency, telecom)
Familiarity with commercial electrical systems and 3-phase electricity
Engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, civil, sustainability, or equivalent) or architecture degree with related technical experienceexperience with autocad or other 2-d drafting program
Ability to work in an environment with ever-changing processes and requirements
Ability to self-manage and drive projects cross-functionally when neededWork with others to ensure project success
Comfort with technology and software programs
Bonus points..(what are some nice to haves, ex: drive an ev)
Eit in civil or electrical engineering
Field experience working on a construction site or making visits to active sites, knowledge of construction methods and processes
Ability to be customer facing if needed
Hands-on building (or hobby) experience
